GWYL gives November 2020 grant to the Miami County Dental Clinic. Dental care remains the number one unmet health need for children in the state of Ohio.

In 2012, the Traveling Smiles, Miami County Portable Dentistry program began providing quality dental care in the safety of the school environment for the under-served and disadvantaged children of Miami County that did not have a dental home. Our mission is to treat all children enrolled in the program regardless of their ability to pay. Our team of dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants have served over 3,000 children in Miami County since the program’s inception.

Dental services include examinations and diagnosis, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, dental sealants, temporary and permanent fillings, baby tooth extractions and baby tooth root canals, oral health presentations and programs, including “Stop the Pop” and the “Tooth Fairy Program.”

We provide our young patients with consistent cleanings, examinations, oral health education, sealants, treatments when necessary, and provide each one of them with a new toothbrush, tooth paste, and school spirit t-shirt after their visit with our program. The impact of this consistent dental treatment will help to improve their overall health well into adulthood.
