How did you hear about Give Where You Live?

We initially heard about GWYL through social media posts of friends when the group was being started.

What made you decide to become a member?

There were a couple of reasons that we chose to join this group. Most of us can afford to be more generous than we currently are whether that is giving with our time or giving with our money. We liked the idea that our $100 donation could have a bigger impact to a local organization when combined with 99+ others.

Why do you enjoy Give Where You Live?

We really enjoy learning each month about the nonprofits that are presenting. We have so many new and established organizations serving in Miami County. We really didn't expect to learn of so many that we weren’t even aware existed.

Has anything impacted you during your time as a member?

We are always impressed to hear the story of how these non profits start up. Many such as our recent recipients Project Believe, Give Medical ministry and Reading for Change were the idea of a single person or small group. They only aspired to help a few but are growing and reaching so many more. We can do amazing things when we give of ourselves.

How long have you been a member?

We have been members since the start.

Anything else you would like to share?

Whenever we can we like to bring our boys with us to the meetings. They get to hear from the three organizations, learn what they do, how long they have been in existence and where they get their funding from. We then let them cast our vote for the organization they feel deserves the group’s donation.
